Such a great pattern ! I made one for my husband for hunting and I’m currently making some for my kids. The only part I don’t love is the puff stitches in the first round.. when the hat is done it sticks up on top of the head
Seems to be well written with clear instructions however the Modified single crochet wasn't well explained for me so I referred to the the designer's blog for a better explanation. I wasn't able to pull off the msc due to the yarn I choose but I followed the pattern with traditional SC, thus far it's coming out nicely. Pattern has lots of clear photos but no final measurement. Having made beanies before 21in is size S, 22M, followed by 23in being size large. Overall this is a good pattern and I'd check this shop for other buys.
I found the pattern difficult to read, with a very fine font on a peach colored background. It literally hurts my eyes. I've started, frogged, and restarted this pattern multiple times and it isn't coming out in the way it looks in the photo. As an advanced crocheter, I'm disappointed in having paid $7 for this pattern.
I made this for my teenage son, it was working up great until I got to the bottom half. It seemed like it was a bit larger on the bottom, I thought it was supposed to be a little fitted around the chin and neck but it looked stretched out. I think I will try this pattern again just to see if I was the problem.
The pattern stitches are much too decorative for a simple balaclava hat and the picture of the hat (neon green) on the model does not look like how the pattern turns out. It's not a pattern I would want to make more than once because it's more time consuming than I expected with the modified single crochet.

I really wanted to love this pattern. I know so many people I could've gifted the finished product to but unless you are well verse in the modified single crochet I would not recommend.
Very clear pattern--easy to follow. Worked up fairly quickly & my son loves his balaclava!
